Early Korean Music
Most agree that Korean pop started with a man named Seo Taiji. Around '92 (I think), he brought American type music to Korea. After that, many groups started popping up like Noise, Deux, R.ef, Roo Ra, & my personal favorite, Solid. A lot of the early music is really good. It has more of a Techno-Hip Hop sound to it.
Korean Music Now
Korean music now is sort of strange with a few good groups here & there. Most of the groups have a Happy-Techno sound that I am really getting sick of. Well I think H.O.T. started this wave of Happy-Techno with thier hit song "Candy". Shortly after new & old groups started catching on to this new type of music. Groups were formed like Hamo Hamo, Young Turks Club, ZaZa, U.P.&, Untitle. Then some of the older groups started catching on like Roo Ra, Noise, & DJ Doc.
Korean Music in the Future
Well the new H.O.T. CD is out, and if people like thier new style enough, they might just change Korean music once again.

Solid is my favorite group (Gee, my page is only called "Solid's Page"). Well I own 4 of the 5 CD's that they put out. I have Solid 1-4. The one I am missing is Solid Live. (If any one wants to sell thier copy, E-mail me cause I want it real bad) They are like the Korean equivalent of Boyz II Men. Well, their songs speak for them selfs.
R.ef stands for Rave Effect. They are an early grup that came a little after Deux. Thier songs have more of a techno sound. They are my 3rd Favorite group. They are my brothers favorite group. One of thier songs is so good that the legandary H.O.T. re-sang it.(Sangshim II) I have all three of thier C.D.'s
Well there is so much history in deux, and I only know a little. I konw that Kim Sung Jae has died. The remaining one has put out some albums of his own now. Recently, they just put out a new C.D. called "Deux Forever". Its sort of a collection of thier best songs plus some songs that they never put out in public. Regretfully, I only have 1 of the many C.D.'s that they put out.....
Kim Gun Mo is a single artist. He has put out 4 C.D.'s that I know of. He sold tons of copies of his 3rd album. His songs are mostly slow or techno. I have 2 of his C.D.'s. He is my friends' favorite artist.
Seo Taiji was the one who started it all. He formed a group called Seo Taiji & boys. Probably thier most popular songs was "Come Back Home". The song was rumored to have subliminal messages in it, but I dont think there are any. I have 1 C.D. (Seo Taiji & Boys IV)
